Originally from Trinidad, Kenneth Bruce move to Brooklyn, NY in 1975 and started a long, rewarding career a municipal employee. Having worked New York City’s Metropolitan Transit Association for 25 years wanted to pursue starting his own business when he retired. He started his venture selling clothes at flea market in Queens and long Island. Once he learned about the Flatbush Caton Market, he immediately applied for technical assistance and the Market’s management helped him carve out a niche. He created the Brhuberger Company to sell specialty and “As Seen on TV” items that wasn’t available for purchase in the area.
“What I like most is the one-on-one contact with my customers,” says Bruce. He has built relationships with people in the community and other vendors which has lead to more referrals to his business. He enjoys being able to offer customers popular “As Seen on TV” items such as the Ped Egg, Space Saver Bags and Green Bags without the cost or delay of shipping or going to an out-of-town mall. Bruce also enjoys demonstrating the products and finds that his customers prefer to experience the product instead of waiting for it to arrive in the mail.
Bruce wants to continue to meet the needs of his customers and expand his product offerings. In the meantime, he is enjoying retired life following his dream to be an entrepreneur.
